This course introduces students to the fundamentals of shooting under night vision using IR lasers and modern low-light equipment. You’ll learn how to safely set up, zero, and operate your rifle in a night environment while building confidence through progressive live-fire drills.

Format: 45 min classroom + 5+ hours range (progressive live-fire as it gets dark)
Class Size: 8–10 students max (2 instructors/RSOs)

Helmet + NVG mount + PVS-14 (or equivalent monocular/binoculars)

Suppressor mandatory

Rifle (AR-15 style preferred) with mounted IR laser/illuminator (e.g., DBAL, PEQ-style civilian version) + pressure switch
250–300 rounds rifle ammunition (frangible or range-safe preferred)
Weapon-mounted white light (on rifle and/or pistol)
Spare batteries, mag pouches, sling, eye/ear protection
IFAK (individual first aid kit) on person
Closed-toe shoes, long pants, bug spray, water/snacks

6:00 – 6:45 PM: Safety Briefing + Classroom Theory

6:45 – 7:15 PM: Gear Check & Dry Setup

7:15 – 8:00 PM: IR Laser Zero Confirmation

8:00 PM – 10:30 PM: Progressive Live-Fire Drills

10:30 – 11:00 PM: Culmination Drill + Debrief

11:00 PM – Midnight: Cleanup & Certificates

Understand night vision capabilities and limitations
Set up helmet, mount, and NV device properly
Confirm IR laser zero under live conditions
Build safe weapon handling in low/no light
Engage targets using IR laser aiming techniques
Transition between white light and IR illumination
